About the Author
M.L. Ryan is a professional woman - which is not to say that she gave up her amateur status, but rather that she is over-educated with a job that reflects her one-time reluctance to leave school and get "real" work – and she spends a lot of time in that profession reading highly technical material. She has many stories rolling around in her head, and she finally decided to write some of them. She prefers literature that isn’t saddled with excruciating symbolism, ponderous dialogue or worldly implications. She also doesn’t like plots so reliant on love at first sight that it makes her feel like her head might implode. She lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband and teenage son, four cats, two dogs and two adopted desert tortoises.

Exceeded my expectations

I read the first in the Coursodon Dimension series and absolutely loved it from cover to cover, so when the author asked me to pre-read the sequel I was cautiously excited. Cautiously because in any given series, the second book never lives up to how wonderful the first book was, right?
Wrong! Special Rewards met and even exceeded my expectations. It kept me riveted to where I did not want to put the story down.
Hailey is the same person she was in Special Offers - cooky sense of humor, strange dreams, and overall loveable heroine; only she now has to deal with some residual magic leftover from her time as a temporary human host for Sebastian Kess, a magical being from another dimension. Sebastian is his usual charming (*cough* full of himself) self; Alex is as in love with her and as charming as he was in the first, if not more so; and Hailey has become somewhat of an animal whisperer. Or at least an animal Pied Piper.
In Special Rewards, we meet some more individuals from the Coursodon Dimension; from government officials, to the head of the Xyzok, to members of a royal family. I don't want to give anything away, but I must encourage you to read Special Rewards. Make sure and read Special Offers first, because while things are explained well, they will make even more sense if you have read the first book.
For those of you like me, who love the ever irascible Sebastian, never fear, he might not inhabit Hailey's body anymore, but he still manages to steal the show whenever he shows up. Such a drama queen, but don't tell him I said so. He would probably lecture me for hours about how he could not possibly be one.
Do you enjoy romance with a paranormal twist with a splash of humor that will make you snort Pepsi out of your nose if you take a drink at the wrong moment? Then this book is for you.

Coursodon adventures continue in Special Rewards - and its a reward for the reader!

I thoroughly enjoyed Special Offers (The Coursodon Dimension) and was excited when Special Rewards came out. But I held my breath a little - could Ms. Ryan keep me as entertained and captivated? Ms. Ryan aced it! All my favorite characters - Hailey, Alex and Sebastian returned - stronger and larger than before. The characters were interesting, the situations they found themselves in were action packed, and the Coursodon world is now on my list of places to visit. The storyline picks up from where the first book left off - it was like I never had months inbetween. I fell right back into the characters and their adventures. I enjoyed all the new "effects" from Hailey hosting Sebastian's soul, and was glad to see no matter which world she is in - she's able to experience the benefits. She actually had me laughing out loud a few times, and I chuckled throughout the book. This is a book that once you start - you don't want to put down. Each time I laid the kindle down - I worried the three of them would get into some trouble while I wasn't reading. The dialogue is fabulous and Hailey gets to say things I wish I could get by with.
So often series loose something after the first book and the author struggles to bring you back into the story. Not the case here at all. Ms. Ryan's wit, skill and talent as an author shines through. The ONLY time I was disappointed with the story was after the last sentence ended. I want MORE. Much much more. I want more of the outrageous Hailey and delicious Alex. I definitely want more of Sebastian/Sebastard's story and back story. I even want more of the mothers. Okay, not a whole lot more but more - makes me not feel so alone with my mom guilt.
Ms. Ryan, I sincerely hope you are hard at work on book 3 - after an appropriate time of enjoyment at publishing this wonderful book. You are one of my must read authors, and encourage anyone who loves a little romance, spice, fantasy and mayhem mixed with lots of fun to read this series. No one will be disappointed.

Not the average reader again

I'm an old bearded biker who is not usually into reading romance novels. With that said, M.L.Ryan's books are not the usual romance novels. She blends romance, fantasy, and humor, (With a light touch of SF) into a funny/sexy tale that I could not put down. I enjoyed both Special Rewards and her first book, Special Offers so much that I read them each cover to cover in one sitting. I love a book that keeps you guessing the whole way through, and Ms. Ryan's books do that admirably. I came across these books by accident (was looking for Amazon special offers/discounts), and I'm very glad that I did. OK Ms. Ryan, get cracking on the next one!
