About the Author
Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007) is one of the most beloved American writers of the twentieth century. Vonnegut began his career as a science fiction writer, and his early novels – Player Piano and The Sirens of Titan – were categorized as such even as they appealed to an audience far beyond the reach of the category. In the 1960s, Vonnegut became closely associated with the Baby Boomer generation, a writer on that side, so to speak. Scholars believe that Vonnegut’s reputation (like Mark Twain’s) will grow steadily through the decades as his work continues to increase in relevance and new connections are formed, new insights made.

Interesting but Incomplete

Kurt Vonnegut fans expecting the usual complex plots and attention to detail will be dissapointed. This is a collection of incomplete short stories. What is there is excellent and, to my mind at least, worth the time. BUT! Be warned, each story ends well before it is reasonably complete and we are left wondering where Kurt intended these stories to go.

Is it just me?

My first thought, on reading the first story of the ongoing series, was, "Has my taste in reading changed this much or is it him?" The answer: Neither. These are worth reading if your expectations are realistic.

As others have said more eloquently, there's probably a reason these have gone unpublished up until now. They're okay, but lack the complexity of the Kurt Vonnegut novels I know and love.

Loved it, needed it, ready for more. I have read just about all of his books so it was nice to hear his voice again. It flowed with fluidity, almost so much at times it seemed polished but never leaving you. It read like a twain story, fabulous and wonderful
. Buy it. It is worth every penny.

I'm a sucker for a good ranch romance ala Diana Palmer, and love a thrilling PI mystery from the likes of Nora Roberts. This book has the perfect balance of both. I don't think I put it down the last half. A must read!

Wonderful story, Characters were believable and so was the storyline. Author did a great job with the writing. The story was one you couldn't wait to see what happened next so you kept reading.

Another fabulous story featuring mystery, romance and horses (all the best things) from Bev Pettersen. Private Investigator Scott Taylor is recovering from a head wound when he arrives at his friend's riding school to help out and teach a course on addiction. He falls for Megan, one of the students who is hiding the real reason she's at the school. Don't want to give away any of the plot twists but the author takes you on a thrill ride right until the explosive ending. The setting is so vivid I can smell the grass and the barn and see the horses racing around the track. Horses and Heroin is another stand-out from this author.

I just downloaded this book last night as I have been waiting for her 5th book to come out. Like her other books, this was a tough one to put down! This one is definitely a keeper!!

Life at jockey school (who knew there was such a thing!) with its calorie counting cafeteria nd risk-taking students provided an exhilarating backdrop to a wonderful romance. Megan and Scott had to overcome a dangerous drug operation and an untrustworthy friend before their romance could bloom..

If you haven't read any of Pettersen's books yet, you're missing out! Thanks Ms. Pettersen, for another dandy!

I ordered this book, based on the many references made to it in other publications. In terms of narrative content, it certainly lived up to my expectations, having more specific information on early Creek towns than anything else I had read. What is missing in this soft cover edition is a detailed map or maps, and that is terribly unfortunate in my case, since I needed it for reference. The listing on Amazon states that a map is included, which is not true and misleading for the buyer.

Extensive compilation of early Southeaster Indian Materials

Reviewed: Early History of the Creek Indians and their Neighbors by John R. Swanton, Smithsonian Institution, Bureau of American Ethnology, Bulletin 73, 1922, Government printing office, 10 folded maps included (brittle), 492 pages. (Note: this original had extra pages excised by the printer to make space for the map envelope and contents in the back.) Excellent compilation of historical information and research materials on these early American Indians. This is a general work and does NOT go into great depth on many things, especially material of later dates. It spans up to approximately the 1840's. The Maps are fabulous and a MUST have for the reader. NOTE: The maps are reproductions of maps made much earlier and thus are and (MAYBE more than I could discover) somewhat in error, but NOT in gross error for their time. For me this was/is a great love to read, in that nowhere is there anything comparable in it's scope. Highly recommended. Thanks, Harry!

Kindle version is without content, only the cover downloaded!

I really wanted to read this book, but the Kindle edition that was sent to me had nothing but cover, title page, and final page of the book. It was EMPTY!! Had to get a refund on it. I hope Amazon corrects this problem so I can order the the Kindle version and actually get a copy of this classic work to read.

An overview of the life of Henry VIII

A concise rendering of life of King Henry VIII. This is such an exciting chapter in England‘s that I urge future readers to per sue more in depth books on this King.

There are few typos. One in particular is the use of 1934 instead of 1534.

Rock solid ideas and precepts which make engineers (actually) think about their field

This book is not the same flavour as the usual regurgitated texts on design engineering or engineering design (whichever term you prefer) which concern themselves with either machine design or product development. This book focuses on technical systems in general and therefore makes it more valuable to ALL engineers, the great majority of whom don't actually design consumer-driven products.

As with Eder's previous collaborations, a lot of the material borrows from the late Vladimir Hubka, which is great. Delightfully though, there are more of the authors' own thoughts which come through, building on Hubka's timeless precepts, whilst adding a more contemporary slant in many places.

A word of caution though: this book is very theoretical and offers abstract (though insightful) ideas. Whilst the concepts can ultimately be applied to any branch of engineering, it is not going to offer the quick-fix, cookie-cutter methods for designing something. It does provide insightful clues to what lies behind everyday design decisions and processes.
