Fantastic Artwork...Okay Story

I have to say I was just a little bit disappointed with this. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as I had expected. I had a problem with the fact that the storyline & characters didn't mesh well with the books. It was more humorous than the books, and makes light of several of the situations that Zoey faces.
I honestly wanted to like this, because I enjoyed the books, but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it was just me, I didn't like that it strayed so much from the way the main characters acted in the books. The dialog just didn't seem to match what I would have expected from the characters.
However, the artwork, both on the cover and inside, was great. I loved it. Being a fan of the series, it was really nice to have a visual representation of the characters that I have grown to love. Fantastic artwork.
I guess overall I would say that you may like it if you were a die-hard fan or if you haven't read the books yet and want the general feel of the House of Night world. It was good, just not as good as I'd hoped.

A Vampyr Delight

House of Night: Legacy is set between the first novels Marked and Betrayed, and contains the first five issues: Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Spirit. Zoey Redbird is a fledging (a future vampyr), but she is different than the others as her mark is filled in, as she is destined to lead the Daughters of Darkness even though she just wants to be a normal teen. With the help of her friends and with the guidance of Nyx, she has to learn about the five elements - earth, air, water, fire, and spirit. And in the process she learns a few life lessons.
This mini-series fits perfectly as an in between tale during Zoey's early days at the school. There is a prologue for those have not read the first novel where you can easily catch up on what is going on. I like some of the vampyr mythology that is thrown into each story, which is a step up compared to the laughable glittered Twilight vamps.
There is some amazing artwork in each issue, resembling some of the 80s style comics and anime, which gives Legacy a more cult feeling to it. Each story is well written and the dialogue is smart. I recommend Legacy to all House of Night fans.

Nothing worth your time!

My teenage daughter loved the first novel in the House Of Night series. When I saw that Dark Horse was going to publish a graphic novel version I was intrigued. Sadly, what's here is not a version of that book, but more of a supplement. Unfortunately it's a bland and uninteresting, by the numbers snoozer. Each chapter is a look at a significant look into world history and how it fits into the Vampyre mythos. Its really not good. The writing is poor, the dialogue clichéd, and the art is uneven and amateurish. The only thing that keeps this from being ranked lower is the beautiful covers by Steve Morris. Overall, I can't imagine this being well received by anyone. Decent idea with terrible execution.
